this is a mix of a show i’ll be checking out this Wednesday @ Vinyl. a silent film has been on my radar thanks to siruisxmu and when i saw they were coming i had to check them out. they’re going to blow up. i love catching up and coming bands in ATL to be able to say i saw them “back when”, it is one of my favorite things about the music scene here. i was introduced to Carousel via silent film as their opener and can’t get enough of their dreaminess either. take a listen, get familiar, and join me on Wednesday night.
damselindior must know im currently stocking up for my new apt come april. these babies will be awesome in my new living room for the gals to plop down on for wine nights or when one of my guy friend’s … Continue reading

i’m most bummed about missing my favorite local boys, The District Attorneys opening for Camper Van Beethoven. check them out in East ATL this weekend at the legendary Earl. i never miss a DA show. you will not be disappointed!
get tix $18 from my bffs at ticket alternative.
enjoy your weekend!
i love making this granola for the week to snack on. this recipe i have developed from one of my best friend’s CK, with touches of Bon Appetit recipes sprinkled in. It is a great breakfast with some vanilla almond milk or just a guilt-free snack during the day!
you will need:
agave syrup/2 cups of rolled oats/brown sugar/roasted coconut chips/walnut pieces/pecan pieces/sliced almonds
- take your 2 cups of oats and toast them lightly in the oven for about 10 minutes at 300.
- while that’s cooking, mix your pecans, walnuts, and sliced almonds in a large bowl.
- sprinkle agave & brown sugar all over the mixture.
- spoon the mixture on toasted oats.
- mix evenly both the mixture of nuts and oats.
- sprinkle the toasted coconut chips on top.
- lower heat to 250 and cook for about 10 more minutes, checking as not to burn the coconut.
with my big girl job and coming from a military family i have developed quite the stamp collection on my passport. this weekend i am going to a conference for work in Disneyworld! just because it’s business doesn’t mean i have to be stuck a wrinkly suit when i step off the plane. i styled three common travel scenarios for today’s edition of what the !@#$ do i wear.
just because you’re traveling for business doesn’t mean you have to be uncomfortable and boring. keep the top classy and neutral and add accessories for style. business travel also doesn’t mean trying to navigate the airport in 5 inch heels, some nice suede boots will do just as well. always remember a classy business card holder in case you meet anyone interesting on the plane (wink).
now the kind of travel we all prefer, for pleasure. comfort is key but it doesn’t mean you have to look like a slob. i think wearing maxi skirts are the best for travel they cover everything and double as a blanket around you. wear a light sweater, and easy flats for security. scarves are always a must on ANY travel occasion and double as a pillow and another blanket (i get really cold!) tuck a beanie into your oversize bag to avoid plane hair!
for any of us lucky enough to travel to another country ease is key. you don’t have to wear a juicy sweat suit because you’re flying. lucky enough for you all the chic sweat pant look is in, keep them to a slim silhouette with a fun colored flat. an over-sized yet nice sweater will balance out the sweat pant look. socks a must for those long flights and walking around the plane (ick). eye mask and pashmina are essentials for when you’re stuck to that annoying person obsessed with having the window open!
there is an INSANE amount of awesome new music out today that i had to get on here and write about immediately.

1. Toro Y Moi/Anything in Return
i can’t believe it has taken me this long to get on the Toro Y Moi train (I’m a little embarrassed honestly) but no worries he is a huge part of my Spotify everyday life now! think of Passion Pit but a little smoother and sexier. this is Chaz Bundick’s third album (again we are mad late on this guy), the 26 year old USC (go Gamecocks!) grad says this album was influenced by his recent move to Cali with his long time hunny.
Favorite tunes include: “Cake”/”Cola”/”So Many Details”/”Say That”
for more info on this guy’s amazingness check out Pitchfork’s multiple features on him
2. Walk The Moon/ Tightrope EP
what a delicious little treat to wake up to this morning. not only do I live in this band’s sweatshirt on a DAILY basis, their self-titled album was one of my favorites of 2012. i first saw these adorable face painted boys during an early morning of Music Midtown in 2011, followed them to open for Fitz & the Tantrums that fall, and just caught them headlining at Terminal West this past November. Tightrope is a collection of a few new tunes and some covers.
Don’t Skip: “Burning Down The House” (Talking Heads Cover)
3. Ra Ra Riot/Beta Love
i got into Ra Ra Riot about two years ago when I heard “Rhumb Line” and also got into their front man’s side project Discovery (which you should all check out as well). if you’ve been following me on Twitter (which you all SHOULD be) I have been talking about this album all month. moving away from their string based sound and adding some more keyboards and synthesizers this album is a little more electronic than previous. i like this new album it has some electric love songs on it.
Don’t Skip: “When I Dream”/ “Dance with Me”
check out Pitchfork for all other things indie music
now go make your cubicle mate jealous of your awesome new music!
people don’t wear socks and heels enough. i know its an acquired taste but i like to change things up every now and then. don’t try too hard with the look, and i love it best with peep toes.
sweatshirt/urban outfitters (on sale!)
acid wash cut offs/one teaspoon
socks/urban outfitters (try these!)
platforms/jessica simpson (try this style!)

as for me music wise i am lucky enough to have snagged a ticket to Ellie Goulding’s sold out show of awesomeness tomorrow, and living a high-school girl crush on American Idol Alum Kris Allen this Sunday night at Eddie’s.
happy weekend, stay warm friends, and rise up!
it is an exciting time to be in the ATL. unless you’ve been living under a rock it is not news to you that the Falcon’s are killing it right now and will be playing the 49ers in the NFC championship this Sunday. if you’re lucky enough to be catching the action ditch the jersey. step up your fashion game and get creative. be comfortable (it is a football game not a runway) and bring an awesome lip color for all that cheering, a big bag for a camera and other goodies, and shades for tailgating it’s going to be a sunny weekend! rise up!
